Here's the
steps for changing your hard drive and
restoring the data
1.
Go to 'Welcome to JCON>' and type 'software' <enter> . This will tell you whether
you are on level 40 or level 50 software. Compare it to the software version
listed on the paper packed with the replacement drive. They should be the
same.
2.
Make a data-only backup from your current hard drive
3.
Shut the system down with Option 8.16. Power off when
safe to do so.
4.
Using the keys on the back of the main cabinet, remove
the old Hard drive. Insert the new one
and boot the system up.
5.
Once at the OPTION menu, 'end' to 'Welcome to J-CON'.
6.
Type 'software'
<enter>. Compare this software level to the original (step
1). The last 2 decimal places don't
matter if the basic level (40.01.xx or 50.01.xx) is the same. If they ARE the same level, you can proceed
using your DATA-ONLY backup from step 2.
If they are NOT the same, you must use a FULL-DISK backup. You may have to re-install the original
disk to accomplish this before going to step 7
7.
From the 'Welcome to J-CON>' prompt, type
'restore.system' <enter>. This
starts a 'script' which automates the restoration process.
8. Change tapes and reboot when instructed by the script.
9. Reload your CDs when prompted, or you can load them afterwards
